On 27 August, the CTICH facilities hosted a co-creation workshop as part of the PEATLESS project. The event was attended by more than 20 representatives from different parts of the mushroom sector value chain in our region, including growers, cultivation technicians, composting specialists and peat suppliers.

Thanks to the diversity of profiles, very enriching dynamics emerged that made it possible to identify the current needs of the sector, explore possible alternative raw materials and analyse the main challenges that the PEATLESS project will face in promoting innovative solutions.

The PEATLESS project is integrated by 12 partners from 4 European countries, united by a common goal: to reduce the peat content in cover soils and substrates used in the ornamental plant, seedling and cultivated mushroom sectors. This initiative seeks to reduce dependence on a non-renewable resource and promote more sustainable and circular agriculture, using by-products from other activities.
